Building Safety One Conversation at a Time
Sometimes the most meaningful connection begins with a simple conversation.
Established in 2012 with support from the Edina First Responders Fund, Edina’s Foot Patrol brings uniformed and reserve officers into the 50th & France district on weekend nights and during the holiday season.
Walking the area allows officers to remain visible, understand what is happening at street level and respond quickly when needed. Just as importantly, it gives shoppers, visitors and local merchants an easy opportunity to stop, ask questions and get to know the officers who serve the community.
The patrol has become popular with shoppers and business owners who appreciate the opportunity to interact with officers in a casual setting. Residents can look for officers during busy summer weekends and throughout the holiday season.
The program combines a traditional approach to public safety with the relationship-building that helps neighborhoods feel connected and cared for.
